Melka Conture, Adadi Mariam (70kms from the Capital)

Description

Drive 50kms to South of Addis Ababa on the Addis Butajira road on the bank of the upper Awash River. Visit an archaeological site for early Stone Age tools. Continue through the country side to visit 13th century rock –hewn church of Adadi Mariam, which is considered as an extension of the Lalibela rock –hewn churches .The place named is after a certain tree which is commonly found in the vicinity called “Adadi “in Oromiffa Language. And, late in the afternoon drive back to Addis Ababa (the Capital).
